In 2020, my journey in Kansas City took an unexpected turn towards community transformation, ignited by the simple desire for accessible, flavorful heirloom tomatoes—a rarity in our local food landscape. Faced with their high cost and scarcity in nearby stores, I was compelled to take action, leading to the revival of a neglected plot of land across the street. With just a few tomato plants, this small endeavor quickly flourished beyond expectation.
